The back of the box of cheerios Seriously, right now I'm in the middle of the current edition of Bon Appetit (cooking magazine). I have next to my bed three choices after I finish it, all of which have been sitting there for a few months but *sigh* I just haven't gotten around to it, thanks to my internet addiction. I have Henry James' Portrait of a Lady (Iago--for those of you who remember him from the chat days pre-MH--mailed it to me with the guilt tag of "if I am truly your friend and you truly love me, you will read this!" so I am left with no choice but to do so....this is what happens when a fellow MA in English person gets ahold of another MA in English person, they send each other classics and demand that they read them ! heh). I have Katherine Kurtz' King Kelson's Bride. And I have the first three books of the Wheel of Time series (Sir Strife MADE me go out and buy these...). So, lots of good reading, whenever I get my ass off the computer and start the books

I've been meaning to read Founding Brothers which is about the relationships that existed between between America's founding fathers, i.e., Jefferson, John Adams, Madison, Washington, Hamilton, and Franklin. I love history.

ok, went out to buy a new cd tonight and the store was also clearing a bunch of hardcover books for 25 cents each, so i picked up a few. one on hiroshima, one on women and the medical system, a volume of grimm's fairy tales, and one novel. the novel is called e-mail: a love story and i just could not resist that title. anyway, i've started reading it and find it's actually quite interesting and well-written. it's epistolary (right word?), but all in the form of bulletin board posts and email. the writer is stephanie d. fletcher and it's her first novel. i'd have to recommend it just for being topical and a neat idea.
edit: finished it. as i got further into the story, it became painfully obvious that the relationships in question were doomed. i'm inclined to say the author is biased. the relationship problems stem from dishonesty, abusiveness, addictions, and unreasonable expectations, and, last time i checked, none of those things was exclusive to the internet. i'd also like to add that the book was published in 1996, and i think meeting somebody on the net has become far more acceptable in the past 5 years. still an interesting read, but not meant to leave you with warm fuzzies.

Currently I'm re-reading Napoleon's Marshalls by David Chandler, which details each of the 26 Marshalls of the Empire individually.
