Gettin' my wisdom teeth out today!!! YESSSSSSS!!! I think it'll be FUN!!!!!! Actually it'll suck. Anyone who's had this done have some words of encouragement or maybe even some horror stories? Hold off on the horror stories until after 10:30am CT though because I'd rather not hear em before I go under the knife. ;D Well, at least I get some drugs when I'm done!

No horror stories to tell, I got it done under general anasthesia, I'm a wuss. I just wouldnt get to sleep at first, all the monitors were going crazy and the last things I heard were : Nurse : Doctor! What's happening? Anasthesist : I've never seen it before! *fadeout* hehe But overall it was fun, I slept a whole day, I looked like a squirrel on painkillers for the next 2 days.

Well...as long as they put you out. For me, they said my blood pressure was too high and wouldn't put me under. So I got the pleasure of being awake for the whole thing...it was really fun listening to my teeth crack!

I was awake when I had My Fangs ripped out, that was weird as the roots go all the way up to nearly under your eyes, my nose sunk in a bit for a day or 3 and I had a black eye afterwards,e veryone at school thought I was a big badass hardman that had been in a nasty fight lolololol
Seriously mate, nothing to worry about even if u only get put under a local anesthetic, the dentists these days are fantastic, why I remember when I was a nipper....... *wanders out of thread grumbleing about still being cool really*

I had my wisdom teeth cut out several years ago. It wasn't *that* bad...except I apparently had teeth BEHIND my wisdom teeth..quite rare. So, I had six teeth cut out....it was all done will I was "under," so that was a definite bonus For about three days afterwards, I looked like a chipmunk with terribly bruised cheeks, and I had a very hard time opening my mouth to eat or anything. Other than that, it wasn't too terrible...except as soon as I started feeling better, I got a sinus infection for about a week....yuck!

Had mine taken about a year ago. I have a great dentist, so no problems. Local anesthetic. But it was the ones in the upper jaw. That's the easiest ones. Didn't eat the rest of that day, but started the next day and the second day, all was back to normal.

No one is yanking anything out of my mouth. Those wisdom teeth can rot out before I suffer any pain.

I was 14 when I had my wisdom teeth removed. I only had three of them...evolution in action! An oral surgeon removed them rather than a dentist (hey, I was the daughter of an orthodontist, my dad wanted me to go to the best guy in town for the event....). I am easily wacked out on any substance. Prescription or non prescription, alcohol, etc. So they gave me some sort of drug that messed with my head. I faded in and out of consciousness and was in the BEST mood. They had a complication...one of the wisdom teeth had roots that had wrapped around the jawbone area, and they had to go in with a mallet to chisel the tooth out of there. They were concerned, and bent over me....the tooth made a funny crack when they hammered it. I remember that for some odd drugged up reason I thought that was HILARIOUS. I burst out laughing so hard that pieces of my teeth and blood spewed out from my mouth like a sprinkler, and I sprayed both the dumbfounded nurse and the dr with it all. They just stared at me, having never had that reaction from a patient before. They had to wait until I stopped giggling and then they could proceed....coated in my blood and teeth fragments for the rest of the operation. Oh, and when I was recovering--just a few days later--I came down with the worst case of chicken pox a human being can have and survive. The pox even settled in the empty pockets where my teeth once were, between the sutures. Yuck. That was the only complication...it was bad enough, trust me!

The Oral surgeon I went to was a true artist IMO! They did knock me out with gas etc, so it wasnt a big deal. As a matter of fact, after the effects wore off, I went into work that day. Your gums will likely be sore for a couple of days, but if you've ever sprained a joint or broke a bone the pain is no where near that IMO. Heh, I do recall,....kinda being so stoned up on gas and pain killer that I asked for the teeth when he was done. Sure enough, they gave my wife a little envelope with the devils in the them!! LOL!!! Later, when I opened the envelope, I was like, "what in the hell did he give me the teeth for?"

Alrighty well, it wasn't bad. They put me under by giving me a few shots and I woke up not knowing up much time had passed. Apparently it only took them 30 minutes. I felt a little sick from the anesthetic on the ride home and my mom pulled over, but once she opened my window I was fine. I got the same thing at home once as I was walking around but then I layed down and was fine. They gave me vicodin and penicillin, which I've taken once so far. I was expecting more of an effect out of the vicodin I guess beause it really didn't do much for me. But yeah, I've just eaten some yogurt and soup so far. No swelling yet, but I guess that's supposed to reach it's max by the third day. So I'm sure I'll get some. Other than some pain in my gums I feel tip top But hey, I wanna hear Pedro's story!!

I may not need to get my wisdom teeth removed at all. My dentist tells me I'm one of the lucky ones that have a long enough jawbone to accomodate all adult teeth. There's only one that has yet to emerge, so waiting on that one.
