OK, here's the deal : I don't know much about computers, I just thought I new mine (as I have successfully installed an IDE zip drive, a CD-R, and an extra 128MB RAM.)
I bought (bulk version) a new hard drive, 40GB, Seagate Barracuda, discount price.
I connected it to the IDE, to the power source, I set it as primary master (using the little thingie as written on the drive), I have my windows 98SE CD ready to install, but nyet !
It's not working. When I put my old HD back, it works. And when I don't ask auto-detection and put my old HD on secondary master, the PC boots on the old one, saying "primary master : none".
Everything looks as if my brand new HD was dead, but I want to make sure I didn't overlook anything crucial before sending it back...
TIA
