From what I can tell, a lot of the arguments/debates regarding the WTC attack can be boiled down to two separate views.
The first view seems to hold that the terrorist attack came out of the blue for no real rational reason whatsoever. No explanation is given in this view for the attack except that the perpetrators are evil madmen. This being the premise, it follows logically that the only solution is to kill the people behind it. Nothing else is required to satisfactorily resolve the situation.
The second view seems to hold that the first is an oversimplification. This view seems to be saying that there are historical reasons behind the perpetrators hatred of the US, and that for the situation to be resolved not only must the immediate perpetrators be brought to justice, but also the underlying historical grievances must be addressed or they will continue to breed more terrorists.
Thoughts, comments, flames?

Its way too easy to brand one side 'evil' and the other 'good'.
The people who attacked the US have been angry at them for years on end, for things the US has done since it first started acerting itself on world issues. Somewhere after Pearl Harbor, since before that they were isolationalists. However later their quest for 'freedom' and 'justice', got out of hand, as they trampled over many others beliefs. You honestly cant believe you can walk into a situation between two people, fighting over a *religious* argument, and expect to solve it by saying "this is the right/just/fair thing to do" and doing it. Which the US has done on many ocasions. The last straw I believe was, interviening and siding with Israel on the last hoopla that got out of hand between them.
I am tired of people acting as if the US is the saintly savior of the planet, trying to protect us all from ourselves. Nobody asked them, or wants them to. But theyre too pigheaded to admit/notice it. The US is no better than any other, except when it comes to military prowess. Theyre nosier too.
