Information through torture is a dirty business. Its unfortunately necessary at times, but I hope its only used as a last resort. I'm thinking of the Philipino terrorist who confessed only when they threatened to hand him to the Israelites. Maybe we should try that first before anything?

It underlines the fact that even IF the Taliban and the Al queda were routed, there is no one suitable to take their place, the Coalition will be responsable for Afghanistan like a mother and father to a child for a long time after this is all over....

...Especially since the Taliban started 'taking out' key personel who the US was counting on to provide a moderate stance from the same background as the Taliban.

Yes, Fearass, which shows who we are dealing with ehhh?
LB,
I totally agree that shared intelligence is going to be a must globally if we are to get rid of this terrorism business. Though I am pretty sure that countries friendly towards one another do this already (ie. NATO), what may be a way for all our countries to improve relations with say..... China, would be to provide ample warnings of situations as they unfold. However, I would find it very hard to believe, that, for example, if NATO became aware of a terrorist plot to blast the Forbidden City in CHina, that we wouldnt warn them in advance.
