For me it was very easy, my sorcerer knew the level 9 Wish spell, and each time got the "rest" option (party as if rested and rememorized all their spells). It gave Jaheira her Harper's Call spells and Heal spells, while the Haer'Dalis rememorized his Stone to Flesh spells.
But I was wondering, is it possible to do that fight without using the Wish spell heh? I mean, my fighters died several times and fighting off those monsters around the girl (can't spell her name) must be damned hard if you can't rest...

Well I basically suck using magic, so all I had to rely on were my fighters really. I tried summoning as much as I could while my fighters concentrated on Melissan. I tried conserving my greater whirlwinds for the 3rd and 4th time you have to fight her. Basically the key is focusing on Melissan alone with your fighters, because once you get her to give up, all her summoned creatures go away anyway. Takes a lot of healing potions and spells for it to work without using much magic though. I had to realod twice.
On a different note, a nice tactic if you have a thief is laying a few traps where she pops up in between fights. That way you can deal out some good damage to her before she gets a chance to do anything.

Its been a good few months sinceI finished ToB (havent played any BG game since then) But I know my crew didnt have the wish spell. I know I had Aerie use potions of genius, and then casting scrolls of Time Stop. During this time she could use her healing spells to cure my Juggernaut Paladin and his strange bedfellow Sarevok. The absolute final battle with whatever her name is, I know I`d had Jan Jansen set a S*itload of traps under where I knew she`d appear, and these did some major final damage. I also recall that it was a major drain of a battle and I used a few resurrect spells along the way. If I ever play it again, I`m going Multiplay and having a Mage with high level spells. Aerie was excellent, but the fact that she`s multi-class limits her abilities. Nicely thought out by the way...the Wish spell I mean I`ve made a mental note of that one...lo

My tactic was similar. By that point, Haer' dalis had a TON of those special spiked trap thingies and I'd just set a few down where she was going to appear.
Killed her outright. She never even got a chance to spawn anything in.
